Assignment 26 - Celebrating Failure
1) I failed this semester in a few different ways:
- I was sick very often, but I don't know why. Maybe it' because the germs here in the US are different to the ones in Germany. Maybe it's due to the A/C s here in the US. That I was sick so often has lead to the fact that I couldn't do sports as much as I would have liked to. That is why I think I failed in my sports plans.
- I failed in my plans of staying in contact with everyone at home. During the exchange semester, you get to know so many new people and make so many new friends, that it is really hard to stay in contact with everyone at home. At least I managed to talk to my best friends regularly, and I hope that the others will forgive me and I can catch-up with them when I am back home again.
3) Failure is hard to admit and hard to live with. But I have to learn to cope with it because it will occur several times in my life and I will never be well prepared for it. I think this class did not teach me how to cope with failure, but it taught me that failure is normal and even the greatest minds alive fail regularly.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteFirst, I hope you are feeling better! I know culture change can cause a lot of people to get sick. Hopefully if you're feeling better you are able to continue your goals for your sports plans. In regards to staying connected at home I don't know if I would agree to this as being a "failure." I say that because they're your friends and know that you are here to make a better future for yourself and when you get back home you will pick up right where you left off.
